I had one of those tops. IIRC it was a Scott Tinley bit of kit. It had a back pocket as well a la cycling top.
It wouldn't fit one one arm now.

Anyway in the early 80s before tri kit athletes would strip naked in the pits in front of the crowds. That was when balls out had a different meaning. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Ah, the Richard's Bicycle book. A great source of retro cool I turn to often.

See, I like those oakleys. Not so partial to the sporting y-front look though.

You've got to be nails to pull wearing that off.

In a word 'chafing'

Was expecting more neon to be honest, maybe that was a few years before. My tri gear was the 'cracked lava' look...

I had some Tinley tights... Doubtless there are photos somewhere. They were 'cracked blue and yellow lava'

Lava was very in... Don't people realise? ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, I used to get called out for those tights. They were garish even then...

Yeah, I get the impression you're photo library has great amusement potential
Now that we all have the luxury of hindsight.

Theres got to be an article in this some how.

The cycling apparel of yester-year.

Someone posted a picture of a BMX frame on here today, with Haro written on it.
Immediately, this brought back all kinds of memories of long hot summers of the 80s.
As kids, just hanging around in the street, practising wheelies, bunny hops, 360s, etc.

Them were the days.

Night all.

A couple of years ago I had the misfortune to find myself behind a guy wearing speedos on the bike leg of a Half IM distance tri. I was trying to pass him but he was going roughy the same speed so got caught following him for about 5-10 mins. Now from behind that really is not a nice sight - bought tears to my eyes!!!!!
