[#2695358]

For as long as I can remember my brother who is 10 years older than me has bought exactly the same things as me.

This has also been the case with mountain bikes and gear. I buy a helmet, he buys the same, I buy some spd shoes, he buys the same, I buy a bike, he buys the same, as you can imagine its pretty annoying.

I recently put a deposit on an Orange Five and he has been talking about getting one too. I know I have unbelievably good taste and can totally understand why he would want to be exactly like his younger brother, but I can't have him buying an Orange.

Any suggestions?

Why not see it as a positive thing and just get on enjoying stuff and not getting all worked up about it?

Is it not flattering? An older brother with a lot of respect and admiration for his little bro? No?

It's quite nice really. He obviously values your judgement, it won't detract from your enjoyment of your kit so shy worry?
Just make sure he gets a different colour five.

Tell him you're gay.

Then when he introduces his new partner in a couple of weeks tell him it was a phase.

Assuming he is the same size as you... give him the Orange 5 you ordered as a gift. Then ask him to buy you a different, possibly slightly cheaper, bike in exchange.

He will be grateful but wont ever copy you again.

The answer of what to do is right on front of you and you have a golden opportunity most of us would love.

Make sure he continues to buy EXACTLY the same as you, same colour and everything, this is your green light to take his Orange 5 out instead of yours, on occasions when you really want to thrash down that black section, try out some new techy bits, or even just a winter thrash about, wear his components out instead of yours.

Simples. ๐Ÿ˜‰
