shit dude, I can manage a 26er, with saddle (dropper post) and rear wheel fitted, in my matiz with the seats down. I hope you had other reasons to choose that fat biffer of a car than a reluctance to drop the rear seats

2 people and 2 bikes is feasible in most normal cars IME, 3 people (no dropped seats) and their bikes is where it gets tricky.

2 I'd reckon no problem. 3 if you were clever. 6 wheels takes up a lot of room.

I don't know how many bikes I can get in my mondeo. Ran out of bikes at 6, that's probably enough though. But if not I can get 4 on the roofrack. And a trailer for the riders I suppose.

3 people and 3 bikes front off in the Maxi Life is a doddle.
3 bikes with all wheels off and you can leave the bench seat in there too giving the full 7 seats for [s]crap[/s] kit.
Took all the seats out in the summers and had 2 bikes, 2 lots of kit, spares, 2 sets of climbing kit (wall and trad), bouldering mat, ropes, double mattress the OH's suitcase and my duffel and she still wanted to fill the free space.
With the twin seat out - the two kids and three bikes go in without removing any wheels with room for kit.

57 plate Seat Alhambra two rear seats removed, still a 5 seater, four bikes in the boot!

There should be a statutory thread on here with exactly that sort of information, step by step instructions & photos to prove it - this could even be it 😉

I'll chip in with the fact I can get a medium sized Chameleon wearing 26" x 2.2" shoes in the back of a 2000 VW Beetle without removing the front wheel if you fold the back seats down & rotate the bars upon entry (sorry, no photos)

We once managed 3 bikes (including one fat) + 3 people + 2 lots of camping gear all inside an Insignia hatchback - but it was under duress & involved some serious amount of dismantling after the fatbike rider confessed that cycling 80 miles home after a 24hr solo race was not going to be an option.

I can get a 26" soul, wheels and seatpost on inside my MK2 focus with the back seats down. Generally take front off though as it's no more faff.

I'm looking for a new car, something rugged, reliable, with decent ground clearance, possibly 4wd, and easy to get a bike into, all whilst doing high 30's to the gallon, if petrol. It's not proving easy..........

I worked out last weekend that I can get an XL 650B full sus in the boot of my Volvo V40 (old style estate, not the new hatchback) with both wheels and the bars off (removed stem clamp) and the dropper right down. Necessary for some stealth overnight city centre parking.

I used to get two bikes with both wheels on in my old 240 🙁

No pics sadly bu you can get 3 bikes, 2 of which are XL in size, and 2 adults in a Nissan Micra. It's tight but it's possible. Wheels off, stacked up and no space for anything else.

We managed four people, three week's worth of luggage and a large bike once, too.

I seem to recall we used to cram quite a lot inside a Renault 5, too. Square cars FTW 🙂

I give you a Citroen 2cv take all the seats out except the drivers and slide Tandem in.....wife sat on a stool for 200miles.

I managed to get 2 medium GT I-drives/kit and a weeks camping stuff into the back of a Fiat Siecento once . It was tight and I couldn't see much in the rear view mirror !!

2 people, 4 bikes, 2 spare sets of wheels, complete tool kit, camping kit (including half a kitchen and 2 burner hob + bottle, we knew how to live) and food for a long race weekend in a fiesta 3 door.

The fiesta (much to my horror) had been *pimped*, so the sub and the parcel shelf (inc huge speakers) remained in the car........

I've had a 29er and a 26" in the boot of an Accord Tourer, even had the cover over the bikes- stealthy.

A large 26er slips very comfortably into a mk. 1 MX-5. Sadly, I had to replace the car when I went 650b...

Mk1 Mondeo estate achieved 6 bikes and 5 riders, all inside.
Mk3 Mondeo estate, only 5 bikes and their riders, all inside.
Volvo V50, rubbish.
Octavia estate fits a tandem, lawn mower and some other junk. Not attempted a max load yet.

Core - if you aren't looking for new, I am achieving those requirements with a Mk1 Octavia 1.8t 4x4, admittedly the fuel thing requires some restraint. Farmer friend has just got the newer diesel one, far more economical (but mine cost a lot less).

4 bikes, 4 adults and gear for a week in Austria in a Mondeo estate. Cavernous.

Jeez, OP has started a thread to show what A bike looks like in their boot. If we all did it, it would be a great resource for when we're looking at a new car.

I've had 2 people, 2 bikes & 2 lots of camping gear for 4 night in a 10 year old 1.2l Clio from Sheffield to Belfast and back via Anglesea and it was fine.

I dunno what some of you are playing at with your spacious cars.

TBH I could take my bike down to the benchmarking workshop and get pictures of 40 or 50 cars with a bike in the boot. But I'd get sacked. So I won't.

Despite fitting the tandem, not managed to fit the Patrol in with wheels on yet, but then it only just fitted in the gondolas when out in Verbier

My large Alpine 160 fits into my Toyota GT86 a treat. Wheels have to be removed first though! LOL

An xl trek rumblefish with both wheels still fitted into a Dodge Charger. That car was cavernous.

Also, on two occasions I had 3 mountain bikes, camping gear, armour, luggage and 2 passengers in a 2000 Fiesta. Needed the wheels off. Was bloody uncomfortable!

Galaxy. Brilliant flexible load and people carrier. 3 bikes, numerous spares, camping gear. 4 people. Not optimally packed here as it was only 1 mile uphill back to apartment from the bar 🙂
