What does everyone think of the Leatherman Wave LT650 multitool? It looks like a useful tool and it looks like it is a good size. Not so sure about the price and the 250g weight though.
Or should I go for the Leatherman Wingman, at 200g and half the price of the Wave?
Or the Leatherman Sidekick? Also at 200g and a similar price to the Wingman.
Any experience using any of these as a mountain bikers tool?
Thanks!
As a general tool to have in your pocket every day, you can't get much better than a Wave. It should last forever, and even if you break it somehow then just send it back and they'll often repair or replace it for nothing.
That said, as a tool purely for biking, there are better options.
I have both the Wave and the Wingman. Of the two I prefer the Wave, the pliers are better, it has a saw, the scissors actually cut...
For general biking duties I have used the Wave a bit to cut annoying branches, but now I usually take a Squirt PS4 (the pliers are useful for undoing a tubeless valve and cutting gear cable) and a regular bicycle multitool (Topeak Mini 20 Pro).
Thanks for your comments. I have been carrying the Leatherman Juice in my backpack, but I have found that the pliers are so small that its almost useless when you need it for trailside repairs (it is light tho!) ๐
