These days, it seems nearly every bike release is a mullet setup, which I find really surprising as although there are advantages of mullets (manouverability, weight, more space over the rear on steep descents) there are also advantages to a full 29er setup (speed, more grip, increased stability, rear suspension doesn't get hung up on obstacles as much) and I know there are racers out there that still prefer them purely for speed. I suppose my question is are mullets the new optimum wheel size going forwards or is it just the latest fad that the industry have decided to embrace and then will drop again (like plus tires a few years)?

I’ve mulleted my Gen 1 RocketMax @colournoise. Stick with 150mm or less on the front (assuming it’s the 140mm you’ve got on the back). Speaking with Cy on email an angleset to slacken it a bit more would help too. Already rides very well though.
