This is my predicament, ridden BMX for 15 years, i've always had a problem where my bottle is much less than my ability, it didn't use to matter, id ride 7 days a week, i could build up things slowly, and most importantly feel 100% at ease on my bike, so it wasn't much of a barrier.

I got busier, less time to ride, so when i ride im less comfortable on the bike, have less bottle, worry about doing something that is routine for me, get angry, eventually do it, but it would become a chore.

Took up MTB 2ish years ago with the opinion that it's easy, with the bike feeling secure and comfortable, stick me in front of a gap or steep chute, id wouldn't think twice about doing something that was beyond my experience on a MTB.

Everything was good, my new found MTFU was being transferred to BMX too. I got hurt on the BMX for the past two years writing off the DJ season for a couple of months, get back down the trails, the fear is starts to kick in on the BMX again, this fear is now being transferred into MTB now, where it never was, how can i nip this in the bud before it becomes a massive mental barrier?

Jedi's mantra is pretty much that MTFU is the worst thing to tell someone to do......

Go back to places you know you've rode. It will help.

Realx. Back off a little. Find the 'flow'.

Stop beating yourself up and just ride. The fairies do the rest. That's their job.

In other words....just enjoy your riding, get lost in it, to the point where there is no point. The way of no way.
