Just planning the next "trip of a lifetime" for next year. Looks like a 4 day bike tour is on the cards (amongst other amazing things).

So... 4 days riding what is likely to be a pretty ropey bike (in comparison to the norm). Do I:

a) take the bare minimum of my own helmet (assuming I'm a helmet kind-a-guy), gloves and other basic cycle clothing. oh.. and learn to ride without spds.

b) throw in some shoes, spds (shoes and pedals) and maybe a saddle so I can get the contact points sorted and feel more at home.

c) take our bikes. Might be a PITA lugging them round everywhere else on the tour, but I'm sure I'd enjoy the cycling more.

p.s. Sounds like there are ~60k sections on some days, but pretty much all down hill as the tour is vehicle supported. I'm not expecting anything technical - ie probably just roads / tracks etc.
