Heading to South Molton for a week tomorrow and have pretty much decided after googling that it’s a week off the bike. Before I pack the car up I thought I would double check with you lot and see if I am missing some riding places, is there anything interesting other than a few local pump tracks?
15 mile drive up the A399 or out through Molland gets you on the southern edge of Exmoor.
35 mile drive gets you to the Quantocks.
40 mile drive via Okehampton gets you on Dartmoor.
Even the tiny country lanes with grass up the middle are fun.
So this isn't tempting me other than maybe the 15 mile drive to Exmoor. A week off won't kill me I guess, just have to do a lot of walking instead to ward off the lard!
Don't count on it just being a week in South Mordor. You may never be seen again.....

Ha, we always call the road/valley that leads to Blackmoorgate/Lynton from South Molton, 'The Shire'.
Does feel like your stepping into Middle Earth never to return. 😆
