Anyone know some good routes/loops that are a shortish drive from 'The Strip'?
Am going out on Sunday, for work, but am taking the bike for some exploring.
Any tips on where to go (and general experiences/conditions) would be gratefully received.

I've not mountain biked there, but I did take my road bike when we stayed at the Bellagio - Blue Diamond is about 40km away and does seem to be the base for some good mountain biking. There is a shop and hire place there that will help you out.
Otherwise there is stuff down at Boulder City SE of Vegas I seem to recall and some stuff north of the city (is that where Interbike was based?).
Not too much help, but I think that a trip to Blue Diamond and you won't go far wrong.
20 minute drive to bootleg canyon (boulder city). there is a bikeshop at the bottom ; allmountain cyclery you can get a trailmap, hire bikes etc(and the all important souvenir topcap to add the bling/talking point to your bike). worth the journey as its very flat around the strip area. you can see LV from the top of the canyon. they do the interbike demo stuff there.
the canyon is pretty good, a bit ride up then back down but quite a few different trails to make it worth while. quite techy too.do a search on it.
