Is anyone on here in the Huddersfield area? Do you know of any MTB groups or are you looking for someone else to ride with?
I ride in the areas below and would like to know if anyone knows of any alternative routes as there must be loads more locally that I haven't found yet.
- Kirkburton
- Shelley
- Shepley
- Thunderbridge
- New Mill
- Denby Dale
- Skelmanthorpe
- Holmfirth (is a bit far but would be ok)
Cheers!
Give these guys a try. I've rode with them for years (not recently) and they're a great set of guys (and gals)

Hows the riding out Denby Dale way? looks like it should be half decent but never hear anything about it. A mate lives this side of Wakey and I'm in Halifax so that area is kinda halfway - would be good to know if theres anything worth riding. Nearest I've been is when I used to do a bit of riding out of Mirfield and out towards Flockton etc.
I'm in Waterloo and ride with a facebook group called mountain bike shenanigans, I think I heard about it from a recommendation here, they do regular evening rides on Tues and Thurs, there's usually a ride on Sundays too, we get about over Calderdale, some parts of Kirklees as a good group of the lads are from Lindthwaite/Golcar, there's trips to Scotland and Wales too.
Nice one thanks. I'll be in touch with those this weekend about potential rides next week.
Denby Dale isn't too far away but I've only ridden the Trans-Pennine trail and it's a lot of tarmac. There was one bridlepath going down that was pretty good but other than that not explored too much.
I'm from Mirfield but now live in Kirkburton! The woods around Dewsbury Golf Course are pretty good and I can ride from home to the top of the woods in about 25mins. Storthes Hall wood is closer to me though.
I was in Scotland biking on Friday (Newcastleton and Glentress Red, stayed over at Barony Castle then did Glentress Black on Saturday. Glentress is awesome with amazing new (ish) facilities.
