Moving to Bristol in a few weeks. Will be looking for a good local bike shop for general servicing and maintenance, but may also be new bike time. Can anyone recommend a LBS for MTB duties?

It's a big old place, which part of Bristol are you moving to? Frog sample Hanham and Westbury on Trym are miles apart.

Near the centre of Bristol
you’ve got Mud Dock and Bike UK that have always been good for me.

I’m less sure about lbs’ further out as I haven’t used them much. I find my most local bike shop in Hanham very expensive to buy anything in. Usually I go to either Mud Dock or Evans or occasionally Cycle Republic for bike part purchases (when not buying online).

I use Certini as my go to in Bristol, generally just for buying odd sods or clothing, but they're always helpful and friendly.

Bike UK are good but ludicrously expensive for any servicing work, and several of my friends recommend BW cycles down in Ashton.

It's a bit further afield but I still travel back to Don Skene in Cardiff for any serious work on the bike. Superb bunch and good prices in there. Easy enough if riding cwmcarn etc to pop in.

I used Bike UK recently on a flying visit to visit my lad. Very helpful and no quibble refund when the seatpost clamp didn't fit.

Mud Dock didn't impress when I tried them for some bits for an older bike. Wanted to sell a complete new groupset as"they don't make those bits anymore". Caveat emptor if you use them.

Nothing in Henleaze and I’d avoid the Specialized shop on the other side of the Downs.

Bike UK on the Triangle is OK but I think Psyclewerx is more roadie these days.

For servicing I’d go for one of the collect/drop-off services: Mark Sterland (Laurie Greenlands mechanic) is great - https://sterlands.com/ Or you could try Ross at Tailored Cycles

plenty of good and not so good shops in Bristol. Bike on the triangle have always been helpful. I use https://bristolbikesmiths.com/ for all servicing. Hes very good and well priced. If you take in your own parts he is happy to use them rather than supply them (at shop inflated prices). I think he does collection / drop off too.
