Anyone using an mtb rear hub in a CX bike with road spacing? Any issues?

I had a quick play this morning and an mtb hub fitted easily enough in my CX which would be convenient as I'd like to fit a disc...

If it fits , whats the problem?
if the frame was a perfect 130 a perfect 135 wouldn't fit. As it does just go ahead. Consider though that just maybe the hub is not spaced perfectly. if so another hub might need spacing to match this one. Measure it. Or the frame isn't 130 (anymore) . An older steel one can, and perhaps has been , sprung that 5mm.
Anyway, based on your info you have no issues although in theory something isn't perfect.

It'll be fine. I have a 135mm hub in a 126mm spaced frame without any cold setting, though that is made of whippy steel which bends like a warm curly wurly. Becuase it hasn't been cold set properly it can slip a bit in the trad roadie forward dropouts, that is the only issue.

Sorry this is STW: if the CX frame is ally, doing this will naturally lead to stresses and certain death. If its carbon the back end will shatter, you'll get carbon shards in your bloodstream and certain death will follow.

Noov has turned the endcaps on a hope hub to fit a 130 frame before BTW, another option.

Yeah, no real problem, just checking there wasn't a rash of frames cracking out there ๐Ÿ™‚ To be clear, the 135 hub does need the frame sprung a bit to get in there but nothing silly.

I'd done the same on a hope hub too, adh (who do you suppose got Nouv's rear axle turned down for him ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) but it's just simpler all round sticking with a 135.

I did think you were involved ... but then you were asking ... unlike you to be nervous over something like this ๐Ÿ™‚

Not really nervous but only an idiot assumes that there's never anything they haven't considered no matter how much they think they know on a subject ๐Ÿ˜€
