Now two seasons old. Any suggestions or recommendations on what to use (other than buy a new pair)

Thanks

I've just dug mine out ready for the onset of some wetter weather and gave them a wash in this http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/products/productdetail.php?productid=4&itemid=-1&fabricid=-1
and then give them a spray with this http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/products/productdetail.php?productid=16&itemid=-1&fabricid=-1

OP, do you use detergent to wash them?

Zelak, not bad as winter shorts, but not the toughest shorts I've ever had. I'm on my 2nd pair after the arse panel stitching/fabric wore away and a big hole appeared in the 1st pair of shorts. They are slighty stretchy so quite comfy while wearing.

Not totally water proof but not bad but 3/4 length water proof shorts may be better for the depths of winter. One way to make the seat area last a bit longer is to use bees wax etc on the seat panel and sticking/seams for a bit of extra protection.

Before clearing of to live in Spain I used to clean horse rugs for a living.Nikwax has always been the best for waterproofing synthetic fabrics and can be used on breathable fabrics.Anything waterproof needs to be washed in a soap based cleaner as detergents will take out the waterproofing qualities
