Around Perth, Forsyth's Mill is worth a look, and there's a few trails here http://www.perthmtb.asn.au/node/208

Road biking a far better option. Very limited in terms of Singletrack. There is a terrific loop of the Margaret River that can take you down to Freemantle and back. Most of it skirts the edge of the water. There is a good bike hire place on the water near the city centre.

Cheers

Lot of sand around Perth, no fun for riding. Head for the hills as mentioned above.
Not sure a loop of Margaret River will take you to Freeo...?

I think you mean the swan river? I didn't have a bike in WA but I would have thought down in margarets there would be a load of good biking. Was some great stuff around Dinner Plain in Vic if you get lost...

Check out the Muda Biddi trail if you want to have a tour through the countryside. A mate of mine lives just south of Collie and reckons it's pretty good around there.

I met a great guy in the summer who is in Perth and has Wembley cycles. He was a good biker and am sure would be very keen to take you out. Sounds like there's some good stuff there.

Pish. Swan River is what I meant. Doh! Sorry. Anyhoos, the bike trails along the river are really nice and well worth a day's potter. Great way to explore and lots of cafes along the route. I hired a mountain bike and did some of the mundi biddi - lots of fireroad. Nice but not what I was hoping for. Perth itself is great - lots of cracking restaurants though they do close early. Kings Park is definitely worth taking a spin around.

Cheers

Sanny

i was out in perth and margaret river a couple of months ago. i didn't have time/bike to do any riding but in margaret river there were leaflets for at least two mountain bike guiding services that claimed to offer pretty decent riding so sounds like there may be some down there. probably worth checking out when you're down south.
