At Mountain Mayhem they were timing people from the bottom of the Kenda Climb to the top; are the times available on t'intarweb anywhere? Would be interesting to have a look...

Think they could have timed my trips up it with a sun dial.

I saw night fall and day break on that climb, wouldn't mind but it was on the same lap ๐Ÿ˜ณ

You will be faster than some, and others will be faster than you, by a margin (in some cases) that you'll hardly be able to appreciate.

There, saved you some dull internet searching time...

Paul Oldham was fastest overall, but I'm not sure of his time. Dan Lewis won the prize for the fastest climb by a non pro/expert, I think.

42 seconds was the fastest pro time and 51 or 53 for the fastest non pro ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Did you have your pink thong on Sharki?

Check pon about to overtake feller on full carbonage TOTR bike with gears, on me singlespeed:

I liked that climb. Scampered up there, met Midlandtrailquestsgraham halfway up, stopped to shake his hand and still beat people I'd overtaken up it! Very top was just a tad too slippy for little featherweight me though.

He's a soloist - hence the yellow round the seatpost.

Er, looks like it's on his seatpost, and he's a solo so can be excused for not scampering anywhere during the race. Sorry to wee on a couple of bonfires there.

EDIT Can't type fast enough on this manky old keyboard.

I wasn't being serious.. ๐Ÿ˜€

He probbly overtook me after the climb and left me for dead on one of the flat bits or a downhill section anyway.

And I din't have any choice but to scamper up the climbs; with SS it's either grind up or fall off, no sitting down spinning comfortably. There was a LOT of swearing on some of the later climbs, I can tell you...

I'm sure climbing would be easier if you were fatter. Errr, wait...

It was a shame that it seemed to go in rotation with the riders - in our team the same people had multiple cracks, and I never got a go ๐Ÿ™

Stephen James was 2nd twice, gutted!

well that wouldn't disprove my point...

seems a bit perverse to time a climb in an endurance event anyway? surely sprinting up climbs isn't the way forward?

That.

The Kenda was the easiest climb on the whole damn course anyway.

We didn't time it, they did.

I'm pretty sure the time boards said it was the other way around. Neil Crampton (pro) was at 50 something seconds, best non pro was 47 i think. When i looked at it.

How did they define Pro? Was it people racing in the expert category? Liam was about the only actual Pro there!

Oli Pepper got 47 seconds, he's certainly not a pro. He was in a team of 10, so I suspect was rather fresh!

I thought it was a bit of fun. You didn't have to race up it if you didn't want to.

How would this kenda climb compare to something at Canoock / Llandegla for isntance ? It looks fairly innocent enough. I quite fancy doing one of these events. Sounds like a laugh. How do you all recognise each other from here though, is there a special sign word or sign ? ๐Ÿ˜•

On the home page, under the results article there's a 'hill climb' tab.

51 seconds doesnt even qualify it as a bump never mind a hill. How long does the climb to the top of Inners take?

Best time was 47 seconds. A couple of riders managed that. Go pepper.

02:24 for me, 01:30 for the husband. That's minutes, not hours! ๐Ÿ˜›

It was fine, actually - I get more knackered riding the fireroad hill up to section 8 on FtD! It wasn't particularly steep until the very last little bit, and quite easy even in torrential rain. The other climbs were miles worse - muddier, longer and steeper! ๐Ÿ˜›

The whole point was that it was a sprint. If you time a 15 minute climb it'll only ever be the very quickest guys who do well. Less than a minute and singlespeeders and the 'have a go heroes' are well in with a shot of getting a decent time.

"Have a go hero" sums me up nicely. The Kinesis Morvelo Project Team of 10 had imploded so the pressure was off and I was loving the climbs. Fortunate enough to nip in just before 9pm and used the years of singlespeeding and living up the top of a hill to good effect. 47seconds and the winner! Chuffed to say the least. The rest of that lap was spent trying to get my lungs back in ๐Ÿ™‚
