Anyone tried the hotline? I'm tempted but don't want to bother if hundreds are ringing with the same query!

Yes I was expecting it to crash too. Question if your headline sponsor is one of the countries largest online retailers (so loads of IT expertise) wouldn't you organise the online form/cash transaction process via their website where there's loads of capacity built in!

Is the fact that Wiggle are selling wetsuits on the same page as mayhem entries something I ought to worry about?

MOKL, rather you than me mate. I've seen the state of the solo riders the last few years.

@gravitysucks, have only done it once so far, in 2010. Got crippling cramps in my lower back on lap 5, the likes of which I had never experienced before. Managed to drag myself around 6 more laps with the aid of ibuprofen, but this time I hope to improve on that if I can, and more than anything want to eliminate the back pain which still troubles me occasionally. I might just grind round on the sofa/trail bike as it is so comfortable...

At risk of sounding controversial, really wanted to ride it solo this year, with no other goal than "competing" against myself and putting a few miles on my "trail" ( hell, that's such a crap term.) bike.
Having tried on and off all day, to get the site to even partially open, I've really lost all interest, so I'll have a weekend in the Dales or Lakes instead.

I wouldn't give up, there are probably solo spots left. Why not give it another go this evening.

MOKL ! Cheers for the kick in the arse, probably what I needed. Rode it last year in a a team, first ever mtb event for me, and did what many do I guess and said never again for the first week after, then figured that without all the team politics, just as a personal challenge I'd do it again.

Have you signed up then? I did it in 2010 solo as my first ever mtb event. If you are the kind who likes a personal challenge and to only have themself to answer to, then I highly recommend it. The crowd support for solo was fantastic too.
