For the back wheel. Will I notice much of a difference?

Cannot comment on the x-king but the mountain king is an aweful tyre. Its very draggy (slow) and loses grip unpredictably in the corners. I could never trust them.

I'm on my second set (had the 26" version on my previous bike) and I quite like them - they are the mk 2/2.2" version though.

Don't touch anything that isn't black chilli. New protection puts the sidewalls at the same level as schwalbe snakeskin.

Had the xking puregrip 2.2 front and rear for a while was a awsome setup really predictible and good grip never ran them tubless tho.

Yes, have had ProTection MKs both times and they've been great (tubeless)

I've got mountain kings on the front of both my xc bikes, they've been on for a couple of years at least, so 2000 miles plus, and are good confidence inspiring tyres. They are down to the thread where the odd nobble has been ripped off but still good tubeless. I tried one on the back once but found it draggy and not much traction grinding up steep and slippery stuff on the singlespeed. Xking was my rear tyre of choice for a year or so, tougher than Ralph, rolls nice, plenty of sticky traction. Black chilli is essential if you ride in a rocky slatey place like I do. But I still tore them. In fact last year I tore every rear tyre on the planet. But as ever, it's the front tyre that matters.

Got X King Race black chilli versions front and rear and really like them. Struggle in proper mud, but light, roll well, pretty durable, only had one puncture in 6 months of winter hedge trimming delight.

using black chilli x kings. really like them although feel the nobby nics are a better all around tyre.

x king doesn't feel the best on loose ground or in the wet.

also the nobbs tear off quite easily.

I would consider them again.

I'm using the combination on my canyon and seem really good although in deep mud leaves they have tended to slide sideways my last few trips out
Roll well on the road and grip ok

I got both . Neither are black chilli and both perform very well. Punctures aren't a problem and I'm usually garaunteed a puncture most rides. It's something I just accept now lol
