I was out for a ride today and was cycling round Strathclyde park loch as a warm up before tackling Shat-le-row(not correct spelling obiviously). So I was in the hardest gear puffing and panting my way round when some 'big boned' guy sails past me on an old specialized!!!

Is it my knobbly tyres thats limiting my speed like that? My tyres are inflated to about 40 psi.

Are whats a good all round tyre?

Cheers

john

It won't be the MK's slowing you down, they're fast and gripless!

Why the hardest gear, it's not always the best you know

Cadance is more important than what gear you're in.

Big boned guy could be fit as **** in regards to cycling with big power in them legs.

flat ground? - even I can get a bit of speed on the flat. Power to weight is much less of an issue. Almost anyone would lose me on a climb though.

Scaredypants....I was still motoring along, but said big guy was going alot faster. I was thinking maybe he had hybrid tyres on or something.

I don't get it - blaming your tyres? Around every corner there is somebody bigger/fitter. Is'nt that a rule?
