I have read the old post on this topic but just wondering if anyone has any updated info on where is good to ride round Crewe/Cheshire. Don't really know the area that well but might be moving there soon so wanting to get an idea of the riding available?

Delamere forest and its 'burbs. Quite a few groups riding round there, and you need to know where the good stuff is. Llandegla and Cannock for trail centres are closest. North Wales, the Clwyds aren't far then theres the peaks and lake district a bit further.
I'm in Weaver Valley CC, we have a small MTB section. Look us up on google. Or there's the STW Monday Night Pub Ride about 45 mins away, depending on where in Cheshire you'll be.
Edit -Crewe, just seen it. Prob an hour to North Manchester.
Nothing but flat lanes round crewe and immediate vicinity, you'll have to drive for any sort of altitude.
Plenty of good riding in the macc forest/roachs area which is a little over 30 mins away
