Off on me holybags with my better half in September and I was wondering whether there is any experience of MTB in Sicily on here. We are staying near Mazaro del Vallo on the South-West coast (far from the madding crowd), but we do have a hire car.
Yup.... Sicily is beautiful and incredibly mountainous and rugged.
Rode a few places, but most memorably a track on Etna after it had snowed. Track was well built and maintained, lots of drops over the old terraces. Looking at trailforks is was Salto del Cane, I think.
Plan is to work our way down the boot to Sicily for the winter.
There's a bike park there now. Google/Insta Bike Park Sicily.
Might be a bit warm in September.
Aye. From Trailforks and Kamoot, it looks like most of the riding is very far from where we're staying unfortunately.
Ask the locals when you get there. All those we meet were friendly and helpful.
