[#6810845]

I have the good fortune to be in Cyprus for the month of June based in a small village between Larnaca and Ayia Napa. I'm not working so fancy taking my bike with me and spending a couple of weeks exploring. Anybody got any recommendations? Groups? Routes? Places to ride? All that sort of intel? For the middle two weeks I quite fancy a bike packing moment, albeit I suspect a tent aint going to work. Too hot? Nowhere to camp? Any info guys?

I've been to Ayia Napa a fair amount (going again in May) I took my MTB once and it was too hot for me (unless you went out early in the morning). The Troodos Mountains are a better bet for MTB but a fair jaunt from Ayia Napa.

the village is closer to Larnaca and yep, was looking to go bike packing into the Troodos, well.. it was one idea, riding up from the village and spending the middle two weeks in a campsite and exploring. Just an idea. I've ridden in hot countries and adjust quite well.

If you can get up there, there's a nice loop around the top of Mount Olympus

And if you know the right people, you can get shuttled back up 😉

Been going to Cyprus for a good few years and riding every time I go.
In June you will find that al low altitudes the temp will be in the 30's and was too hot for any serious riding so you have to head up to the Troodos mountains where the temp will still be in the 20's.
My advice is speak to Mike at 'bikincyprusadventures.com' he helps organize a lot of the races on the island and has a wealth of knowledge regarding routes, and his company hire good bikes if you require them.
Last year I rode for 10 days out of 14 and found loads of trails etc ,but all in the high mountains, only tried the lower areas one day but gave up after 30 mins as it was just too hot.

bigmick, cheers, I will give him a shout. My plan is roughly in the middle two weeks to ride over to the mountains, bike pack style, then set up camp in the mountains for the next ten days, explore, then ride back. Any good suggestions for base locations in the mountains? I might hire a car and skip the miles up to the mountain and back. might.
some good looking trails on those pics.

Platres is the best place to possibly start looking to use as a base, but it can be a bit pricey because of its height up the mountain.

Strava segment explorer throws up a bit of info. Here's the Olympus loop:

I wan't registered on strava when I rode it, but I can take a guess who's got the KOM.
