looking for a really compliant fork to improve the front end on my Ogre which i find a bit stiff even with fairly large rubber up front ....steel or carbon ? salsa cromoto or ? your experiences /recommendations etc please .

Had an on one 29er carbon fork that felt pretty comfy, bigger tyre helped more though.

Carbon.

switching my puffin from the stock steel to an on-one carbon fork made a big difference, not just more forgiving feel but the lighter front end didn't hit stuff so hard and was easier to lift over obstacles

ime straight tubulars carbons (had pace and on-one ) are pretty harsh.

i run a triple butted steel kona p2 fork on my td-1 which i find very "twangy" through the rough stuff..... worth the weight penalty imo although its not a huge difference due to the triple buttedness.....but pretty hard to find em these days !
