I see that the chairlift up the Pointe de Nyon is banned for mountain bikers - is this strictly enforced or might they be more lenient at the tail end of the season? If not, is the riding good enough to justify riding up? Any other tips for the area? It looks like some of the best riding in the Morzine area is more in the direction of Samoens. Shame the Platieres Express shuts so early (August 22nd). Not so interested in the 4x/heavily manmade/maintained stuff.

No it's not. There's some decent riding over towards Samoens, but there's no lifts back up, so it's a slog back up the Joux Plane
