Was out there last week the only queue jumping we saw was by a group of British teens, blatantly just pushed their bikes through in front of everyone a couple didn’t even bother with lift passes and just ducked under the rope. Lots of people join friends in the queue, but these guys just rode straight past the queue and cut through, so rude and puts us in a bad light!

Joining friends you’re riding with is fair game I think. Helps maximise lift usage. A surprising number of folks won’t ride the lift alone or with strangers.
Was melting hot last week, was tempted to ditch the armour, until I saw someone that looked like they’d spent ten minutes in a washing machine with razor blades and rocks.

No difference in level of evilness imho.
Ambrose, is that the path from the Lac Vert back down towards Les Lindarets?
@kenntaff13, It's the short section of switchbacks that bypassed the steep gravel track down from Pointe de Mosettes to the col where you turn left to Lac Vert.
Thanks Ambrose. We're arriving into Morzine tomorrow and that was part of the route we're doing on Saturday.
First summer trip to the French Alps (based in Chatel) and loved it.
A few mishaps meant we only managed 2 days out of the 4 riding, managed to squeeze a lot in though.
My soon to be teenager is flying, won't be long until I can't keep up with him. He's already talking about next year.
Off to Chur at the end of the week for a couple more days riding, anyone been?
Im in the portes du Soleil for a couple of weeks - staying near chatel. My buddy rented an e-bike in Morgins and came with me on a more pedally/less bike park type day. We only rode one park trail all day.

Yes, lots of amazing trails. Bike park is good fun, but as per most of CH, the best stuff is the lift assisted natural trail. Have fun, and try not to worry about the cost everything, it's all eyewateringly expensive so just get on with it. Graubunden has the best mtb riding in the world, IMHO! In case you are asking for directions and don't know already, it's sort of pronounced 'Kooor', although locals do a Scottish 'ch' with lots of phlegm at the beginning. Have fun!

I’d love to do something like that. I’m considering if I should go back next year, my group are more into the bike park stuff or gnarly tech… I’m a singletrack trail rider, so I’m thinking I’d rather head off and find some of that…. Probably on my own as the others aren’t into pedalling! Thinking I’ll have to study maps to work out routes? Or are there decent ones that are easy to find?
@mtbgecko: I can’t say it was that simple. We’ve spent a fair bit of time searching over the years. Recently I’ve found that the e-bike tour trails were good for having several nice singletrack sections, as well as generally climbing on fire roads.
And actually, searching for info on this forum has been the most helpful source of advice - especially about trails around Les Gets. This thread in particular was very helpful:
https://singletrackworld.com/forum/bike-forum/les-gets-help/
@pedlad: that’s the trail from the top of the Morgins lift, across and up the the hill towards Les Mossettes. Most people ride down from the lift, and across the fire roads. But you can ride up along the ridgelines instead.
By the way, it’s not technically difficult, but you can go back by riding along the Morgins valley floor. There is a beautiful trail which runs alongside the river, the whole way down the valley. It would be graded a blue trail if it was a bike trail. But I find it absolutely wonderful. The trick is to avoid times when there are too many walkers.
It's been raining quite a bit over the last couple of days so the dust has definitely gone now. 12 degrees at the bottom of the French Mosettes lift. Locals chucked it in and spent the afternoon in the bar. We had to get back to Les Gets so missed out on the genepi. The trails were very definitely muddy this afternoon, some riders were looking like they'd been swimming in Nutella all day.
There's a lovely new piece of trail on the PdS route just after Lac Montriond that helps separate walkers and riders on the steeper streamside stretch.
Les Gets is surprisingly quieter than I expected even with the World champs just around the corner.
Possibly as Les gets is in awful condition this year? Seems worse than normal unfortunately!

Les Gets is world cup, champery is world champs
Sorry 😔
Anyway, we tend to avoid the main DH stuff except for linking up places if need be. We've seen a few trail repairs going on and to be fair, have no real complaints about the condition of the trails at all although the polished limestone section on the Brocheaux track is as always absolutely the most slippy thing ever in the wet.

They're my favourite days. Sounds ideal.
Def no dust left. I moved to Chatel for our final week on Saturday and had what is my now last ride yesterday out the back of Morlcan, that was lovely trails were hero dirt and did a new Uber steep trail not done before. By the time I made my way over to the park the weather had really set in and the mud I collected there and down to Lindarets was all but full washed off on my ride home via Vonnes. It's not stopped raining since.
When we were out a few weeks ago they were closing trails to repair them by digger and hand in Les Gets (And Morzine and Chatel). But I think it’s been so dry and busy it’s all just getting battered.
Today was my brother's last day here with his bust shoulder. A walk along the Super Morzine ridge including bilberry 🫐 picking and then a cafe stop. Dropped him off later back in Les Gets in a much better mood after finally forcing him out of his funk and off up we go to ride a bunch of the Chavannes and Nauchetes trails. The rain has helped to stabilise the dust from earlier this week, every is now silky smooth.
I'm at a bit of a loss about those among us who complain about the condition of the trails - the area is one of the most popular riding destinations in the world and as such gets a lot of traffic. There is (as far as I can see) constant trail maintenance going in.
I'm a mediocre rider but am having a blast. Modern bikes are so sorted compared with what came before.
Tomorrow promises great weather and hopefully velvet trails over to Les Crosets and then Morgins. We'll probably drive to Linderets first to get a bit of Chatel goodness under our belts too.
Bon nuit!
Make sure you leave early if driving to Linderats. They close the roads in at 10
Off to Chur at the end of the week for a couple more days riding, anyone been?
We were there 2 weeks ago for a few days.
Didn't do.much in the bike.park but if you want some big mountain routes send me a PM.
Did a loop from Chur, through lenzer and Arosa and back to chur.
Savage bur amazing route from lenzer
There is an unbelievable glacier loop in Laax which isn't far away either....
Lenzer bike park was busy, everywhere else was very quiet.
Thanks for the the CH route offer Matt, if I was on my on I'd take you up on it.
My lads happy riding a single gap jump in the local woods all day, so a lift assisted bike park is heaven for him. Plus, he looks a bit like Stevie Wonder playing the piano if he has to ride uphill for too long.
Last of day in Italy today after 5-days of no biking. Heading to Bad Ragaz tomorrow for 4-days.
And thus it ends. We're off back to the Carmarthenshire Riviera tomorrow taking a whole bunch of memories. It was a pretty disappointing holiday for my brother; he displaced his shoulder at the end of day 1. He's back home now, a bit annoyed.
MrsA's bike died before we even left Wales and will soon be in the hands of Giant in Bristol. Seeking advice, help or assistance from my local branch was a horrible thing. I'm going to do the 100 mile trip to Bristol in preference to the 15 mile local branch when we get back.
Out here in Les Gets MrsA hired an xtra small Spesh Turbo Levo and loved it. Time to start saving up maybe! 🤔 Thumbs up to Evasion Sports, a bunch of heroes. Her hire bike went in trashed on a daily basis but she then collected it pristine next morning.
We got through a few sets of pads, a single broken spoke and my legs are totally borked. MrsA's thumbs ache too.
While I’m planning for next year, does anyone know of a good trail down to Taninges? As that would make a pretty big elevation drop
I regularly see MTBers relaxing in the cafe on the corner and always wondered how you get down there and back without running your own shuttle?
Or is it a case of ride down and ebike back to the top nowadays (hopefully not).

As per my post on P1, I’ll happily complain about the absolute lack of maintenance going on, by an exceptionally limited number of people. We were there early season and the official trails were wrecked.
I don’t go there to ride them though unless I have to, to link up to other bits, even then I get more arm pump doing a lap down Les Gets than an entire day of back country riding down to Samoens. 🤦♂️
But hey, everyone wants another blue/red flow jump line right?
They are the most tone deaf/thick skinned/french about it, it’s remarkable. 😆
Qi actually would like more green and blue flow trails so that new and young riders can get more progression and enjoy the holiday more.
I would like to see some enduro tech trails. Endless flow trails when the only real difference between a green and a black is the size and commitment required to clear the jumps holds no interest to me. As HobNob says far lore fun to be had at Samoens. I hope to go back and see if there are some good legacy trials following the recent edr race
Those would be cool, but I’m guessing they are harder to build to last. I imagine they’d get trashed fairly quickly with the amount of traffic Morzine, Les Gets and Chatel gets in a summer.
I’d also like some better XC/ebike routes as the few official ones we checked out tended to just be mainly fire roads and regular roads with the odd little bit of track (thankfully we were saved by some knowledgeable forum users and given a great route)

They manage a few tech lines at BPW, they see some hammer. No idea on the traffic comparison to Morzine tho.
My first time in Morzine, not my first bit of Alpine riding. Absolutely loved it but found myself sitting out of repeated flow runs.
Berm, jump, cattle grid berm, jump, cattle grid berm, feature, cattlegrid Berm, what’s vibrated off the bike? rinse and repeat.
My thumbs still hate me.
The rooty off piste under one of the lifts was fun.
Enjoyed Morgins, Champéry DH track (spelling?) and whatever other Swiss trails we did.
Special mention for the green in Morgins with a mandatory gap jump.
