Just discussing how much some people are asking for old bike catalogues specifically Kona and Gary Fisher, some of them (which I have) they are asking nearly £25 for! Where on earth do they get those figures from?????
Then what completely blew my mind was a Mint Sauce key ring yours for £300 plus postage! 😱😱😱😱 Christ on a bike!!!!!

Did the Mint Sauce key ring still have both the hands?

Are you confusing it with the Mint Sauce watch?

Are they selling them at those prices? If so, that is where they are getting the prices from, the people who are paying it.

I stumbled upon a rear Crud Guard (one of the original ones) on eBay last week for £30! I've got one in the garage so thought I'd keep an eye on it.... its still for sale. Some people are just chancers, moreso during the lockdown.

It makes you wonder if people are just chancing it, or if they genuinely believe that its the value of the item.

My work colleague had a 'limited' 50 pence piece. He looked on ebay, and someone was asking £20,000 for one. I told him to offer his one to the seller for a mere £10,000..... the mind boggles.

There was/is a chap with listings for Wahoo Kickr Cores. He has/had about 6 listed, ranging from £950 to £2000. Seeing as they are generally in stock at £700 now, it makes you wonder if he is hoping someone is still wrapped up in the covid hype and will just click on the first thing they see?!

Same with cheap-mid range bikes. Trek Marlin 6's were £475 new, but because they have sold out, people are asking £900.....

A quick search of completed listings and yes they are selling. If there is a buyer who wants to pay £20 for a 1999 Kona catalog and another who wants to pay £48 for a set of 1991 Kona brochures and catalogs then so be it and that is what they are worth.

There is an awful lot of demand out there at the moment and not much supply. I have sold a few things over the last few weeks and every one of them sold for a lot more than I was expecting.

I start everything at 99p, no reserve and see what it brings.

Looking at some of the retro mtb FB groups and people are paying silly money for even bottom of the range stuff (although interesting to see Chipps offering up some Mavic wheels to someone the other day).

I bought one about 10 years ago, new with tags from retrobike for about £30. Wore it regularly for about 5 years until it was pulled, stained and generally pretty shabby. Sold it on retrobike for £30 and had people falling over themselves for it!

I saw that Mint Sauce key ring on eBay after a post on a facebook about the free Mint Sauce stem caps going for silly money.

People are apparently willing to pay £20+ for a free giveaway stem cap.

The mind boggles.

*Would sticking some Mint Sauce giveaways on eBay to take advantage of others buying frenzy be breaking Rule1?

We had a gold £2 coin turn up in the shop rather than the usual duo colour.

Sure enough they were on eBay for a fortune.

We followed one of the auction ones...

It sold for £1.99

I genuinely miss reading mince sauce but can't justify buying MBUK for it these days.

I've got the stem cap too, still in its cardboard wrapper.lol

I have a Jo Burt original, the only thing I could think to have signed by him at (I think) Bike 2001 or 1999 was my wallet which he also drew mint sauce in.

I also have a Rox 'Fear of a flat planet" t shirt of anyone remembers those

I had the rox “gravity, I fought the law, but the law won” t shirt in about 97/98.
Tbf, I thought it was funny then, i still think it was amusing.
Would have been hilarious to see someone with a plaster cast wearing it.
