Anyone an owner and know what headset it takes, or anyone recommend one?
All I can find is it's a zero stack headset.
Cheers mate, problem i've got now is those ones are all discontinued!
Not an owner but zerostack headsets are normally 44mm, there is now quite a selection of zerostack, semi intigrated, 44mm, integral headsets on the market.
How much do you want to spend?
£35 - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=51070
£72 - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=18084
IIRC it's the same as my GT, which used one of these for about 18 months no problem before it got replaced with a Works Components Angleset.
I know Superstar don't have a great rep for bearings but the ones I had in this worked fine.
My project from the beginning is to not spend more than £20 on any part and see what I end up with at the end of the build.
Would this work?
Tis might help identify what you need - SHIS Data Sheet
Do you need the complete headset? You can buy bearing kits which would make it cheaper

I can get down to £27

Whilst buying bearings will work out the cheapest option for getting the headset working be aware that not all zerostack headsets use 36/45 degree angular contact bearings. You may be able to get the spec of the bearing off the current ones.
AH! This is really frustrating!
It's not the headset that's bust, it's the bearings, which ones to buy and the right seals seems impossible.
