Tracking down some touch up paint for my bike. I know roughly the RAL colour and can see it on the Humbrol website but don’t know what finish to choose.

What is metal coat and what is the difference between that and matt? I know it’s not gloss or Satin or maybe it is satin?

It’s a 2015 Fargo 2 in gunmetal and Salsa are notoriously unhelpful about colours and paint specs. It’s only tiny marks where the previous owner has let the cables rub through to metal so in a way it does not matter but if it’s wrong my eye will be for ever drawn to the spot.

Metallic or semi metallic maybe, just guessing though, so like satin but with a metallic sheen?

My guess would be semi gloss, metallic is a different colour.

Humbrol metalcote are supposed to replicate polished metal. So steel will be matt silver, but it’s then designed to be gently buffed to give the look of polish “real” metal.

They are are not really coloured paint, you would be best off trying a car paint supplier, maybe even a car body shop with a paint mixing system, and get them to match it. They would probably do you a small 250ml pot in a very close colour.
