Currently running a 700x35 smart sam but suffered a few punctures plus rear needs replacing.

Thought the specialized trigger

But the schwalble g one all round says that's got good protection.

Used land cruiser in the past which are a good mix but they heavy!

The two above look nice and fast rolling with a little tread for some paths, trails and light off road

Anyone any experience with them?

I've been running the trigger pros on my 700c wheels since last summer. Seem durable although not as supple as other tyres I've tried. Running them tubeless on Pacenti rims and had zero punctures so far.

Using 38c which roll well on the road and grip well on dry trails. Crap in anything muddy in my experience.

I dont think they do the pro version anywhere. The cheaper one is £15 but not as much protection.

Gonna be running tubes. Merlin currently got some g ones for 15quid. Although they are not the best /protective versions

Marathon Cross, a folding bead version to drop the weight from 560g would be great, but they roll well on the road and are decent for light off-road at lower pressure.

Some versions of the new Hurricane from Schwalbe have a very high protection rating.
They are a gravel tyre so smooth center and knobbly outer.
There are lots of variants listed so need to make sure you get the right one and do not be misled by the older version some places are selling off cheap.

The hurricanes are 29mtb tyres I have road wheels 700.

I have read a good review of the specialized trigger.

The g one all round said it's good protection (more than the landcruiser) and a lot lighter.

I dont know why but my gut says the specialized will be more durable

schwalble g one all round

I run these tubeless. I've stopped looking at tyre choice at last, cos these do the job. Last pretty well too.

Whenever this debate happens (about once very three weeks) the G one seems to have the most approval. They’ve been around for a long time and still have a good rep, so I don’t think you’ll go far wrong.

I’ve got Vittoria Revolutions, 700x38, which I ride with tubes. I got them about a year ago as I was getting so many punctures, and I haven’t had one since - same route, a mix of bumpy cycle path, canal path, bridleway, a bit of grass and mud, and some gravel paths.
They’re great on everything bit the grass and mud - when it’s wet (eg, for the last three months) traction drops to about zero. I find this fun, but depending on your route it might be no good for you.
They’re quick and grippy everywhere else, and as I said not a single puncture in nearly a year. They’re about 10 quid on Planet X at the moment, so maybe worth a shot?

Or just get the G ones.

I was also going to suggest the cheapo Planet X Vitoria ones. They seem good to me - I’ve done a few thousand commuting kms without a puncture. They’re heavy ish though (600g each iirc).

Whenever I see the word commute, I automatically think Marathons.
