Converted my XX drivetrain to 1x10 a while back. Now i've just bust the cage on my mech. Given that replacing it is gonna cost me a fair bit anyway is it possible to replace the mech (and cassette) with XX1, or X01 for that matter and keep the XX crank? Anyone done this?

Very limited choice of narrow wide rings in 80/120 bcd, if you're going that far I'd just change cranks personally.

I've already got a N/W ring (WTC) from when I switched to 1x10, I'm just questioning whether a new 11 sp back end will work with it. Can't see why not but just asking if anyone else already did it.

will work fine, you'll need a shifter as well of course

You will need a new wheel/freehub to run an 11spd cassette.

Ah, good point about the hub, I hadn't considered that. Cost is rising, maybe I don't need that 42t cog after all.

I've now spotted a replacement carbon cage plate on eBay for £26 so will prob stick with 10 gears for now until I'm feeling a bit more flush.

You could use the XTR cassette, you'd 'only' have a 40tooth not 42 and 11 instead of 10 but you could keep your freehub body and the cassette is cheaper.
