So, finally got to do an Alpine ride in the midst of a holiday with the folks and mother-in-law and I come to upload it and there's nothing there 🙁

Maybe I didn't press 'pause' at the end, maybe I somehow chose 'discard' instead of 'save' or maybe the Garmin gremlins have eaten it. Whichever of those is true, is there any way of getting at the data from the 'back end'?

Yours in hope.

Julie

Garmins site auto uploads if only one new ride so may already have done it for you.

510 is buggy as hell. I lost a ride on pausing because I didn't save it and it went into auto shut down. Gone, forever. I have turned off auto power off now.

Some people say they've been able to use file recovery tools though, but I found nothing.

Another bug or one of many is I've had numerous rides have their GPS data wiped out, while cadence and speed data remain. I'm close to believing it's either down to powering off the device before upload that corrupts the .fit file, or it's Garmin Express or any other Garmin tool that auto syncs the ride. I've uninstalled Express and I don't turn off the device now until I've uploaded, and I also backup the .fit file before anything else. So far no corruption.

See the Garmin forums. Loads of talk on issues with the 510. The device is ok but the software is garbage, and support is non existent.

Oh, and you may have noticed, Bluetooth doesn't work either. Certainly not with the latest firmware, which is supposed to fix data loss issues but it doesn't.
