Ciocc = Church, I believe.
Ul-tee-gra
I'll see your Ul-tee-gra and raise you an Ixter.
Marzocchi right, they had forks called Zokes. So it stands to reason it was pronounced MarzOkey. not Marzocky, like everyone (including me now) says…
So it's not Mar-zo-chee then?
Is my face red!

presumably zokes is pronounced 'zock-ees' to rhyme with 'jockeys' ?

Pie-vot instead of Pivot 😀
pee-voh shirley?
orbea, pronounced as written. Or be a what? Don't dis Orbea...
’ll argue that no one actually knows how to pronounce Schwalbe
I definitely do seeing as I can speak Deutsch.😉
Same in any language.
Made me laugh.
So is it Mond-raker or Mond-racker anyway?
I thought it was technically the latter, but then heard Cesar Rojo say it way most of us do.
Topeak .. is it tow-peak or top-eak?
I often hear Forme pronounced as Formeee or sometimes Froome.
Cervelo? Arise sir velo?
Someone I know is a fan of Colanyo bikes.
Cannondale Synapse
Sy-napps or sin-apps
Rapha - "rayphaye", like Ralph Fiennes, probably.
Assos
Ass oss
as above Deuter (prob different depending on nationality - esp, say, US vs German origin) and Topeak
also Dakine (again I bet US vs German is v different)
Cervelo? Arise sir velo?
But is it vello or vey-lo?
Seems that I am guilty of getting most of these wrong.
I will never get my head around SRAM, by brain always reads it as S-RAM......
Nope, there's a silent e on the end SRAM= SHITe
Cervelo is Ch-ervaylo

Ive only ever seen it was-was-was, although i know its not.
There's also a silent T in ShiTmano, but nobody talks about it, because you get what you pay for.
Drac & Hodgynd probably say 'Hurp' instead of 'Hope' 😉
Hurp Uuuups (how my dad would say it too) 🙂
B B B, or BBB, as if you're shouting that you've just seen a large insect 🐝
Orbea Rallon...it's not pronounced as ''rah-lon"
Let's face it, we English speakers are pretty rubbish at bothering to pronounce foreign names correctly, even when we know how they should be said!
Sco’ or Scott
presumably zokes is pronounced ‘zock-ees’ to rhyme with ‘jockeys’ ?
Of course! Marzocky Zockys. Who wouldnt want such a mean name for their kit? 😂
Assos
I always pronounced it the same as you call people who wear it...
Ciocc = Church, I believe.
No, it's Chee-Ock.
Have we done Nike yet? Nikey of course. Unless you’re woke.
5.10 - you do say "five point one zero"? Don't you?
What about B'Twin then, eh?
The American climbing scale originally went 1-2-3-4 then 5 with decimal point additions eg 5.6 or 5.9 with 5.10 being the highest (it is currently 5.15a I think). The company initially made rock shoes before branching out. So five-ten definitely.
Schwalbe is easy. Tis the German word for Swallow (as in the bird) and thus entirely phonetic. So Schwal - rhymes with "shall", and "be" like the 1st part of Ben

Wouldn't it be "five point ten" then?
And I know we've already covered Cotic, but I have a BFe and really struggle to say "beefy" which I THINK is correct?
Try pronouncing Bontrager or Raleigh with a lisp.
All hell breaks loose on the bike shop floor 😂
I have a BFe and really struggle to say “beefy” which I THINK is correct?
Nope. It's "boo-FAY", like the French say "buffet", or Phoebe "Buffé" off of that "Friends".
I always assumed that Schwalbe, being German, should be pronounced Shvalbuh, not Shwolby; Schwalbe being German for Swallow (the bird, not an instruction).
Isn't the sound of W dependent on your accent in Germany?
EDIT just googled this, massive can of worms!
BFe is pronounced as "beefy", a pun on the chemical symbol for iron.
5.10 is "Five Ten", it's how the American climbing grade is spoken, no "point" or "dot".
Oh Raleigh?
Commencal - Commical, commissal, commenckal
w-w-as-was
Ive only ever seen it was-was-was
May I suggest a revision to "w-w-as-was not was-was-was"
(I liked the original)

That is a frankly absurd way of counting - you say 5.10 / 5.15 is the hardest but you also have 5.2, 5.3. That is a basic failing in numeracy comprehension.
