Does your brake pad sensor light on the dash come on and then go off when you switch on the ignition (just like the ABS light should do)?
Or does it stay off, only to come on when the brake pads are low enough to trigger it?

I'm looking at buying one this weekend and the light does not come on/then go off and I'm wondering if the bulb has been removed from the dash to hide a fault...

Comes on and then off.

You wouldn't need to remove the bulb to switch it off, just hold the button down next to the hand brake.

Hmmm... I thought it might.

I didn't notice a button by the handbrake, what kind of button is it?

The chap did say he changed his own pads recently which got me suspecting he'd ballsed it up and tried to cover it up somehow

Are you sure that button isn't the flat tyre indicator?

I can't recall seeing a brake pad light do that on the dash and considering it's coming up for it's 9th birthday then I might have noticed it. I guess year might make a difference?

Toons is talking about the button for resetting the runflat light/alarm.

Go on just get it - you'll love it

Sniff, it is model year dependant - only the later gen 1 cars and gen 2 cars have the sensor light - what model year is yours?

If you look at page 13 of this

On the diagram of the speedo, it's the 3rd warning light from the left.

All the rest lit up and disappeared apart from that one

I think the 52 plate just has a space there as it doesn't have the sensor?

Either way, are there any other common faults I should be looking for?

Sorry I was on about the tires, d'oh

Mines an 04 facelift; once the brake sensor is triggered you have to replace it. I think the only way to disable it would be via the plug-in diag computer?

Dissapointed that the one obvious question hasn't been asked.

"Do I look like a hair dresser driving a mini?"

That's because that question doesn't need to be asked ๐Ÿ˜‰
