....As in, mineral oil is a much nicer substance to work with than DOT.
can someone please tell me why i shouldnt flush out my hayes 9s, and replace the fluid with mineral oil.

i reckon the seals should be ok, mineral oil is much less agressive than DOT?
i could be wrong though

it would also mean that all 3 pairs of brakes run off mineral oil, and i can bin my skanky, sticky DOT bleed kit.

Discuss!

It's got nothing to do with how "aggressive" or not a fluid is. Certain materials are dissolved or prone to solvent swelling in certain solvents (and remember that water is referred to as a universal solvent. Or it was when I was at school). The materials used for seals etc in mineral oil brakes are NOT compatible with DOT fluid and vice versa.

Whatever you do DON'T do it.

The seals will probably swell & then fail
