Gutted (but obviously not as gutted as him...).
Looks like garmin-sharp have dropped him last minute, would have been his last tour anyway so not a cool way to retire.

Shame. I dislike his preachy "born again anti-doper" attitude, but he's an entertaining rider, and would've been good to see him turning himself inside out in pursuit of a lone stage victory!

he's tweeted that he doesn't blame Garmin or Sharp so we can all avoid taking hammers to our hi-fi and bike computers now...

Apparently they felt he wouldn't recover in time for the illness that stopped him in the national TT, he argues he would be fine. From a sentimental perspective it's sad but if you're picking the team you want the 9 riders who are on top form and sadly he may not be.
