impossibly sad

Shit. Looks almost definite given his last Spot position. ๐
Bugger. That is sad indeed.
Shit, that is bad, some really crap roads and drivers out there
Is this true? Met him a few years ago. He's been a fairly inspirational individual to myself. This is really very sad news.
Seems very much so now, the race itself has been cancelled
A dreadful loss ๐
WTF.... noooo
If it is confirmed then this is an absolutely tragic loss. I know there are a few on here who knew him. RIP.
Unbelievable. I was just reading about him taking the lead last night. Terrible news.
That's terrible news to wake up to.
The guy was inspirational, an absolute legend.
As above ๐
No real words. What a shame.
DrP
I did not know him personally but was inspired and amazed by his achievements. Sad loss.
Rip Mike, an inspiration and an amazing athlete.
Desperately sad. ๐ Mike is a legend and inspiration.
R.I.P Mike. ๐ฅ
RIP
Thoughts to Family and Friends
awful awful news ๐ฅ
Oh eeek ! That's terrible ๐
No words for how sad this is...what terrible news.
I was really hoping Mike got the recognition he deserves as a great athlete after this event.
Utterly tragic. A legend lost. RIP Mike.
Gutted by this news this morning. Ride free mike ride free.
Unbelievably awful, i was checking in on his progress as soon as I woke up and read what had happened. So, very, very sad
RIP Mike Hall
Let's not all blame the driver as the accident was at night, in the dark. Mike had been complaining about his poor eye sight in the dark and that he might need glasses only the day or two before on the event film clips.
Plus he'd been riding more that any of us could dream of with very few stops.
A true understated legend. Bye Mike
Terrible news. Tragic loss of an exceptional athlete.
Too many cars. Causing too much harm.
No. Such an inspirational light to be extinguished. He truly was one of those figureheads of our collective endeavours. An untouchable.
Oh no! He was talking about close passes on Twitter the other day, too ๐ฅ
Very sad news.
This is horrible news. I briefly spoke to mike at the 2013 24/12 and this on his top tube has always stayed with me (sorry photo wouldn't link) inspiration
A sad loss, RIP Mike
Only yesterday..

That's awful to hear. A real endurance racing legend.
Such a shame. A real inspiration to cyclists everywhere.
Awful news. RIP Mike
That's horrific news. The man was inspirational in his achievements.
A loss to the cycling world as well as his family and friends.
๐
๐ฅ
That's appalling.
A genuine loss.
Condolences to all that knew him.
Stand down Mike.
So, so gutted. An incredible athlete but a modest man. This modesty is summed up in the Inspired to Ride film on the Trans Am race (which he went on to win and set the record), when he said it was just riding a bike, and that nobody was curing cancer or anything.
Self-supported endurance cycling is one of the few sports I am in true awe of, and he was one I was always rooting for. Such a tragic way to go.
A tragic loss. RIP Mike.
Heart sank when I woke up this morning. Having known mike since uni days I'm totally gutted.
He went doing what he loved, his friends all know that, but such a loss to everyone in the cycling world.
Not looking forward to the trip to Harrogate
Such sad news.
Thoughts are with his family and friends now.
Terrible news. He was such an inspiration to so many cyclists.
RIP Mike
Sat here with a tear in my eye for someone I never met, never knew except through their cycling achievements.
I think the reason why is that people like Mike always showed us that pushing beyond what you thought was possible isn't easy but it can be done.
That last mile ridden hard, that last climb done out of the saddle might be all I can do to stretch myself, to achieve more than I thought I could but it's people like Mike who make me believe it's worth trying.
Worth the risk of failing, not achieving.
I'll get the chance of another last mile, another final climb and now Mike won't.
Which is a tragedy for him, his relations and his friends and my thoughts are with all of them.
So sad ๐ฅ
