Is anyone else using a Middleburn TT (Thick Thin) and having problems with dropped chains?..

I fitted mine on a RS8 crank and run it 10 speed with a Zee clutch mech, after dropping the chain 2-3 times per ride I fitted a Pauls chain keeper which has brought the chain dropping down to 1 or 2 occasions and over particularly bumpy terrain or when gassing it over tree roots, but the chain then jams in the chain keeper...

Its a bit frustrating and short of fitting a Stinger device I'm running out of options... Is this happening to anyone else?

Chain the right length? Clutch working properly?

Not middle burn but did have issues with race face.... But don't actually think it was anything to do with the narrow wide narrow ring.

In my case I just needed to tighten the band on the clutch mech providing a bit more tension.

This is the first foray into Clutch mechs for me and the chain length is good. I will give that adjustment on the clutch a try... thanks don 🙂

running xx1 1x11 on a fattie with RS8 not 1 drop in the year i have ridden it, even on a week long trip to rocky spain never had any issues. chain line is a little iffy on 42 chain ring though..
it is a 32 hope narrow wide up front chain ring.

I've been running a Middleburn fat/thin hardcoat chainring for the last 6 months or so, standard 104 bcd on saint cranks without a single dropped chain, everything has just worked. Ok, I'm not sending road gaps but it's not been thrown by anything I have chucked it at.

Sounds like you might not have your BB spacing right?

Middleburn 32T thick/thin just fitted and it seems fine.

1x11 XT and was fairly generous when i set the chain length, dropped the suspension fully and then the 2 link overlap (or 4 if you count individual the links and not pairs)

I run middleburns 1x10 with zee rear mech and have no issues with chain dropping at all in UK trail riding (and even with a week in les 2alpes with a mrp 1x guide fitted). I'm running a wolftooth ring and not middleburns own effort though.

I seem to drop a chain 3-4 times /ride... Running a middleburn TT 10spd with Sram x9 clutch mech, and little chain keeper.

Have found it very frustrating – It seems like the thick part of the ring can still fit into the thin section of the chain, so wondering if it's only really suitable for 11 speed?

@liamh Must admit I'm not convinced the slightly elliptical shape of the Middleburn TT helps with using the chain keeper as I couldn't get it in the right place to consistently work as a guide, then to have the chain jam in the keeper was so annoying... I wonder if these are suitable or if there is an issue?
#edit... I got so pissed off with the whole gears thing I've returned to Singlespeed again.
