Now on the site it says grease the splines for the isis style but do I grease them for the new X-type ?

Always grease anything you may want to take off later, regardless of what the manufacturer says (apart from carbon that is ๐Ÿ™‚ )

The ONLY time I've been told not to grease metal-to-metal contact with an interference fit is square taper BBs. Much as I like bikes, the whole rest of the engineering industry can't be wrong. Grease that motherhubbard (enough to coat the surface, but not so much that you have to wipe loads off when you tighten everythin up).
