Silver is the new black! Get silver as look sweet. Also cheapest at RJC-extreme, only £200 as get discount when spend over £200. Link below

Thanks chaps...still undecided though...I do like black cranks. I probably trawl the 'show me your...' threads for inspiration. CRC cheapest at the mo' with their 10% off offer.

If you look closely at mine, you'll see the edges are polished silver from use.

However they stayed black much longer than expected in ordinary use, but a little mud riding soon had them polished.

The silver looks nicer anyway IMO.

One winter ride had the black coming off the corners of mine.

Hmmm, OK guys, you've convinced me to go for silver.

Now, I'm not obsessed by colour (honest) but I want the hardcoat ring that's a dark copper colour, but on CRC the hard coat ring is grey, but the non hardcoat ring shows the copper colour as an option but there's no way to order it!

I want this colour but can't select it on the CRC page:-

I don't want this grey one. Yeah, picky, I know.

Do Middleburn do more than one hard coat colour? Its hard to tell from the website...I will contact them tomorrow.

Cheers,
R

There's only one hardcoat finish that I'm aware of. They're advertised on CRC as being grey but the ones I've bought always had a bronze hue about them depending upon the light.

The hard coat is grey but will become bronzy with use and cleaning. The CRC cranks are the older square taper version where as the link I posted above is for the newer X-type version so you can use them with the external bottom brackets. Also not on CRC website is the newer Duo cranks which don't use the inner chainring as the spider, this is an improvement as stiffer, cheaper for spares and you can get a smaller inner ring.
