Are they any good? my Xt ones are wearing fairly quickly now as well as the casette so i'm going to need to replace the lot soon.

Anyone used middleburn chainrings?
what's the shifting like on them?
hard wearing?

shifting is ok, they last reasonably well but main benefit is that I rarely get chain suck with them.

It true stw fashion, I found exactly the opposite. Brand new drive components and they even caused chain suck in the work stand without and load. Swapped them for raceface and shifting was spot on.

I've had trouble with Middleburn rings too. SLX fixed it for me ๐Ÿ™‚

Not had any issues here with them at all, been using granny and middle Middleburn as replacements on previous bike and now on current one.

The hard coat is only really worth it if you clean chain etc.. after every ride to ensure its grit and crud free (info from LBS)other wise it just wears off, it is only a coating anyway.

Middleburn rings lasted longer for me, but the shifting is a long way off the quality of shimano rings. I'm happier to accept that I'll have to replace them more often for the gain in performance.

i've found in general that aftermarket rings (used FSA, midleburn, TA) are ok for outer and granny, but for the middle ring nothing shifts as good as shimano ones. Maybe its because the middle ring has to deal with shifts to and from larger and smaller rings.

Used middleburn H-C/S-S for the last few years, I'm gunna give up now, as they seemingly last no longer than XT ones, though I can't tell any difference in shifting.

Gunna try some deore's, as last time I changed a (older wiser) m8's drive train he asked, as the MB's are double the price do they last double the life of a deore set?
He had me there...

I found Shimano XT chainrings were made of cheese. Deore appeared to last OK but weighed a lot more than Middleburn.

I then swapped to Middleburn (and treated myself to a Middleburn chainset too). I find the middle chainring lasts me a year of heavy riding (or three chains). Shifting is OK for the purpose. I cured chainsuck by fitting a slightly different bb length.
