Off for a long weekend to mid wales, staying near Llanwyrtd.

Anyone got any recommendations for routes around there?  Preferably natural routes (I know about Trallwm (and the excellent real ale wobble in Llanwyrtd)).  Any gpx's etc?

I understand there's a route around the Elan Valley and I was going to drop down to Talybont-on-Usk to do the Long Gap.  Anyone got other suggestions that I really shouldn't miss? 🙂

Doethie Valley is probably going to be as dry as it will ever be. (*)

(*) waits for someone to come along saying it's crap because you have to open a gate 🙂

One of my favourite bits of singletrack but last time I was there (last Autumn and wet) a lot of it had been totally wrecked by pony trekkers.

That said, it's a very good circular 1 day ride starting and finishing in Llanwrtyd.

Somebody else will have the gpx's, but the excellent guidebook by Tom Hutton has good routes in Elan Valley, Llanwrtyd Wells, and loads of others including the long gap. Pretty sure the Elan Valley routes are available on their tourist info website:  http://www.elanvalley.org.uk/explore/cycling/mountain-biking
