Ok, i'll be a bit clearer. I've used them before and never had an issue (they've been great consistently). this morning, the site looks a bit different and when i place my order, it just says "please wait" then hangs. Nothing happens.
Anyone else had similar issues?

Sounds like the site is being changed/upgraded/broken. Just give it a bit.

Bought a fair bit from them recently and all seems spot on, use them more than CRC now, they seem the cheapest.

I can't see what Pooks problem is 😆

Ive used them and had ok service and poor service.

I bought a set of forks from them which were advertised as 100mm travel, and when delivered turned out to be 80mm. They were also OEM forks which was not stated anywhere on the site when i bought them. I also had to chase them for a refund and haggle over refunding my postage as it was their mistake.

OP -

any issues with the shop?

Yes i had an issue with the shop, item OEM and incorrectly described.

Fair enough i missed the later post regarding the actual website being the issue.

My favourite bike shop. Used to be my local bike shop, got my first proper bike there and now all my wheels by mail order.

Never had a problem.

Couldn't get the new website to accept payment. I phoned them up and they sorted it. The phone number is at the top of the site.

yes but by phoning a telephone number it means i have to speak to someone - an actual person -and thats scary.

Cant i just post on a bike forum and hope someone else sorts it out for me?

who said i'd not phoned or contacted them? I was just seeing if anyone else had had any problems. But hey, kudos for having a random dig at someone anonymously on a forum.

As it turns out, their server is timing out during busy periods between placing the order and it processing, and they are sorting it now.

Odd, it looks remarkably like someone throwing their toys out of their pram from here.

perhaps that's more to do with your interpretation of it than what i actually said.

If you're that wound up by it go to the shop and have it out with them.

perhaps I'm more irritated by the banal, pseudo-condescending comments being posted on here

I think you should leave this thread and only come back when you've calmed down a bit, had a little think about you're behaviour and are in a better humour. That's what I think.

I bought a Thing once, but I returned it, not off Merlin…
It was a toaster from Currys but I called every one in the shop a **** stick and told them how the Lord would judge them. I was escorted back to the care home…

do you lot ever read a full thread? or just the title, first post, then the reponses to your own witticisms?

Their new website is a pile of toilet, I popped into the shop last week however to pick up a a load of kit and it was all in stock, I could fondle it and it was cheap as chips. Granted some of it was just in vacuum packed bags and not full retail boxes but who gives a toss.

Support you LBS?? not when all I get is a shoddy service and overpriced tat.

Merlin will always get support from me, they don't offer the personal service but that's not what I want from a bike shop. They are good at what they do, hence being in business as long as they have

Website does need sorting though... 😛

To be fair your op wasn't that clear to start with hence a few random replies. When I realised what your problem was I went on Merlins site and everything seemeed ok but didn't want to buy anything so couldn't replicate the glitch. Sorry.

I must admit to not even reading the first post. Shall I go back and read it now or have things moved on too far?

I've got a placky spook and it bends too easily, it flipped a spookful of beans all over my beloved one the other week. I've got a Tifoon from Alpkit now.
