2 weeks in menorca in summer, just wondering if anyone knows of a decent bike shop to hire bikes?
Thanks
Anyone???
There was a shop in Cietudella (?) which looked good and closed just as I got there.
The track around the island looks absolutely superb.
When the jellyfish stopped my snorkelling I would find a comfy rock to sit on and watch the expensive bikes zoom past.
Surprisingly none of them spoke English so I couldn't get much info out of them.
Would love to go back with a bike.

I expect there are loads. I can recommend the guys next to the Audax Hotel in Cala Galdana. Great Kayak tours too, lots of caves.
Stueey, we stayed there all I saw was BSOs. Please don't tell me I missed a good hire place!
Stayed in Cala en Bosc a couple of year ago, hired a 29er Trek from http://www.e-bigfoot.com/es/menorca/
Rode a bit of the 'cami de cavalls' which is a trail that runs most the way around the island, a good mix of everything really, wish I could've rode more.
I've also used Bike Menorca in Mahon, emailed them ahead of time to book but it took a few days for them to get back to me as they'd only got one guy who could speak English.
cheers guys the 29er trek should just do the job!!! cheers
Hired a bike from a place in ciutadella (sorry can't remember the name) and rode Cami de cavalls and a quite rocky and slippy (when wet as it was when I did it) gorge section running across part of the centre of the island, got waved over aggressively to the other side of the trail by a eurotype rider and asked "where's your bell" be grumpy British walker ๐
I've been to Menorca lots of times, but never biked, the Cami de Cavalls looks really good, seen lots of different parts, car hire is still pretty cheap too, it's only a small island and easy to get around, I'm sure you could ride most of the island in two weeks!
I'd advise not falling off though, most of the rocks look bloody rough!
Staying in calan bosch, nice family resort, anyone recommend any good restuarants and nice places to visit (we will be hiring a car)?
Any general trail maps available?
You've got to go up El Torro, it's a decent driving road, there's a monastery, cafe etc on top, decent views. Cap de Cavalleria is also well worth a look, it's a fairly nice, scenic drive, if a bit narrow in places, nice lighthouse and cliff top views at the end, lots of goats too......
Mahon is ok, but hard to spend a decent day there, Ciutadella is the nicer town really.
Watching the sunset at Punta Nati is also worth doing https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=punta+nati+sunset&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=899&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=1ov1VIudB8_6aPyOgOgJ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ
It's really easy to get around the island in a car. Menorca is not that big really.
Mahon - Nice old town. Get into the back streets to find nice local food.
Cuitadella - Nice on an evening, especially if there is a market on.
Cala En Bosc - Eat at the lighthouse. Around the Marina Cafe Balear had nice food.
Cala Galanda - Great Ice cream and a nice sheltered bay.
Ferrieres - Mascaro outlet (ask the wife!)
Fornells - Nice walk along the coast.
Son Bou - Best beach in Menorca. Very long, just be aware that there can be a few nudists about.
Check out one of the village festivals. Es Migjorn Gran has a wild horse festival. The young men try to tough a rearing horses heart.
We're going back this summer. It's just great for kids.
Cheers, the few nude's on the beech sounds interesting (need to buy some new shades!!!!)
Thanks Tallpaul
Also - Water park at Cuitadella is best we have found on the island.
Bus service from Cala En Bosc to Cuitadella is very good, so no need to use the car for that trip. Just get a copy of the bus times.
If you like horses the Somni show is worth a gander.
Some of the nudes are a genuinely scary sight ๐ฏ
