Hi,

My girlfriend is going caving tonight in the mendips and I'm thinking to go with her for a bit of night ride nearby. How are the condition over there? It must be rideable after this dry week end?

Thanks.

Gilles

I think you mean Blackdown? If so then conditions are pretty good. Usual spots are muddy but most is good.

Did a long walk around Blackdown yesterday. Path up to Trig point isn't great but bearable, Singletrack round the edge (through the two gullies) is actually pretty good. Its the fastest its been in months i reckon. Looking forward to going up there Wednesday night.

Parts of Roberrow Woods are appalling due to logging though.

Blackdown was good yesterday, Rowberrow was shitty in most places due to the logging trucks, and link from comms towers to the edge of the mendips was a total shitfest tho.

The Cheddar Gorge bridleway was in pretty much perfect condition, but you would need spare batteries in order to fit that into a loop, but it would rock as loop as there wouldn't be any walkers at night.

basically avoid the woods and you should be OK
