Ms Rickmeister has her entry in and is gripped/excited, as is another lass from the Uk and I'm going for the week as well....

Any recommendations for accommodation ranging from hostel, bunkhouse or bike friendly apartment or hotel ? (no camping as Ms R is Tentphobic and it poured down for this previously)..

Thanks

Mods: Sort of bike related, but please move if required...

We stayed in a log cabin in the village where it all finishes (Bour d'Oisan?). They're on a campsite so look that up.

They run shuttle buses to get you to the quali's / race, for the week leading up to it you'll need a car to get about for various results / race entry gathering. It does mean you finish with a descent all the time and there's a great pizzeria in the village. Depends if you want the apres buzz in one of the bigger villages (ie the ski resorts).

Get a self catering apartment at Les Bergers if you want cheap and cheerful. In town, easy spin to the lifts, and they let you take your bikes in the room / leave on balcony.

If you're driving down in a day and will be arriving late, call them up and they can arrange for you to get the keys if you'll be late.

The 2 times I have done it we were up by the airport, modern big chalets up there. Nice places to be and quiet.
You can probably get away with not staying Sunday night (so long as the ladies race is on the Saturday as usual) If there is a chance you are racing Sunday then staying till Monday is much better.

Camping Colporteur between town centre in Bourg d'Oisans and the foot of the main road up l'alpe d'huez has chalets etc to rent.
