Get the Gold one, it gives you heli lift insurance as well.

I'm taking about the Gold BC membership [url= http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/article/compare-membership-packages ]link[/url] that comes with a provisional race licence and insurance. (My travel insurance won't cover me for racing.)

Bronze membership of BC will give you a provisional race license and yes, that's all that's required.

Sorry missed your comment on insurance, looks like gold membership gives you loss of earnings cover but not medical/rescue. I've used snow card in the past.
