I'm part of a group of mountain bikers (mostly men, two women) who have booked a chalet in Alpe D'Huez from 2nd to 16th July for the Mega Avalanche. Some of us are doing the race, some are just there to ride the awesome trails for fun and spectate. We've had some last minute drop outs, so have some spaces left in the chalet, either for 1 week or both weeks. It's a great self-catering 16 person chalet, complete with sauna or jacuzzi (we find out which when we get there). So... if you have nothing to do this summer, and have some holiday left you don't know what to do with, it'd be great to hear from you. Accommodation is 120quid per week. If you want to come for two weeks but have no way of getting there, we're driving there from York (leaving Fri 1st July in the evening) and have one space left in the van for you and one bike, so would share the cost of fuel and channel tunnel (about 150quid each I think), though you'd have to come for the two weeks to take this option, or else fly home.

This bad boy will be right at home in that environment, itching to get away to the Alps this Summer, been trying to figure out a cheapish way to do it, this could be the trick! 😀

Did you have a drop out of the race as well? As in, do you have a spare entry?
