Anyone tried it? How does it compare to a 2.8 Nobby Nic?

I'm liking the Nics, but there's a definite limit to how low I can run them and still plough through rocks, wondered if the Rekon might be a touch tougher without sacrificing grip.

I would just buy a set and try them, but they're eye-wateringly expensive - near twice the price of the NN

Have you tried the Specialized chubbie tyres? Feel good and sidewall seems reasonably thick and an okay price

I've tried the Spesh tyres, the purgatory is ok (it's on the front, would be better on the rear). The ground control is dogshit on anything other than hardpack dirt

I'm hoping Maxxis will get the 2.8" Minions and High roller out this year.

Spesh Ground control 3.0" is awesome (for hardpack & dusty trails ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I've not ridden anything else yet. I was impressed by sidewall thickness and it's been lovely on some of the big days out recently, including a couple detours through rock gardens.

I dread to think what they're going to cost.
