[#2989025]

I'm looking for a new rear tyre. I want a fast rolling tyre that I can keep on until it gets really muddy. I'm thinking Kenda SB8, mainly due to the generous size of Kenda 2.1's, but am wondering about Maxxis Monrail. Looks like it will bite in the softer conditions better than it's lightweight guise may suggest....

Anyone had any experience with them?

Yep I've used them, mine are tubeless?

Very good and confident in dry conditions, very sharp and quick to change direction, very little drag, I really like them.

If your after tubeless I've got one kicking around, not too much wear, plenty of life left, you can have it for a tenner.

Is it a LUST 2.1?
I wasn't really after tubeless though, having run ghetto tubeless through the winter I could go back to it I suppose, what pressure works well for you?

Transporter13 - why do you prefer Racing Ralphs?

Worth looking at a Larsen - I've been running one on the back for ages. It's amazing what grip it'll give you in all but deep mud & very low rolling resistance. Braking can be interesting sometimes though

I have a little worn exception 62a folding.
< 100 miles, Very light at near 500g
it has a thorn hole in remember getting a pucture with it, I didn't run tubeless but this should seal no problems. 🙂

decided I preferred advantages

I have a Monorail 62a eXCeption I use on the back in the wet as an intermediate between a Crossmark and Medusa. Works really well. Fast rolling, lots of grip even in fairly sloppy stuff.

Running it tubeless at about 25psi.

Currently using a monorail 2.1 ghetto tubeless on the rear. Got a pair dirt cheap a few years ago and tend to fit them in the summer when I'm short of an alternative tyre. Seems to work quite well, even in the wet where it's far grippier than it looks (and let's face it, the pattern and depth of the tread don't look exactly confidence inspiring). Tubeless set up seals well on a 717 rim.
