Just ordered a new Dissector as mine's had it and Merlin had them at £40. Went through to checkout and it popped up with a extra 10% off this week only making it £36 delivered for a Maxxis Dissector 29" 2.4 Dual. Thought i would share in case any one is looking. They have other Maxxis tyres cheap as well.

Just spent some money I don't have🙈
Pair of Ardents for the fun bike for £66.
Luckily they didn't have any 29" Ikons for the race bike

Thanks! Last time they had deals on I got sent white logo versions too. Looks much better than the yellow. Time to restock I think!

@don_biscotti

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I'd understood that white logo Maxxis were OEM and inferior compound to the yellow logo.

I could very well be wrong.

This article suggests the colour just differentiates OEM from retail but all the tyres are the same

Don't know much about Maxxis tyres. Which would be the equivalent of Magic Mary / Hans Damf?

Good to know and glad to be proved wrong. Must just have been an internet rumour from years ago.

Assegai/dissector would be the equivalent I reckon, never rated the hans dampf, the dissector is a better tyre imo. Magic Mary/big betty would compare with assegai/dhr2

My first thought is DHF/aggressor.

But a MM is probably really half way between a DHF and a Shorty.
I haven’t ever tried an Assegai, that might be the middle ground you want for the front.

I'd go 2.5 assegai (or dhf) for magic mary, personaly i prefer the assegai seems a better tyre overall (corner, speed, grip)..

many new bikes do get under specced with tyres (ie given regular exo non 3c version), thats probably were the inferior rumour comes from.
white logos are oem, but if the tyre states 3c then it'll be 3c,

ps. thanks for the heads up op
pps. dont forget to log in to merlin account and look at 'loyalty info'
[£1 spend = 1 point, 100 points = £5 off £75 spend]

**update**
oh. assegai is now £55 so the 10% discount takes it 50p lower than what i paid 3-4 weeks ago :0)

The equivalent of a Magic Mary is surely a Shorty?

DHF is a crap front tyre in my experience. I know lots of people love them but they're much better on the rear. Likewise the DHR is better on the front. The Dissector and Rekon both make good, fast rear tyres.

Feel like I post this alot but...

White logos on Maxxis are just that, white logos. You can get white or yellow on the exact same tyre as an OE, its a choice. You can, if you want to buy enough of them get a completely unique tyre made that has some random variable thats different from an aftermarket tyre (for example Maxx Grip on a tyre that doesn't normally offer it), and then it will be a white logo, but generally, white logo tyres are just regular tyres with white logos.

I was very happy to get an 'OE' white stickered DHR II to match the OE front when I ordered. My OCD can rest easy for another day.
