Does anyone roll on these, speaking to the lads in Evans @ X-scape today they say that they're faster than Advantage, but just as grippy.
Also the 2.25" is at least as big as a 2.35" High Roller!!
I was led to believe that these were the replacement tyres for the high rollers since they have been discontinued. Supposedly just as grippy as HR yet roll better.
ive seen comments about them being a little bit sketchy when theyre lent over hard... As in they slide then grab, rather than consistent grip.
Running a 2.25 ardent on the rear of my HT. Rolls fast and is pretty grippy. Does tend to break than grab but had no problems with it so far. Prefer it to a similar sized advantage i tried. Still running either a HR or minion up front though. Might try the ardent up front though just to see what it's like. They are pretty big for there given size.

If they're the same size as 2.25" Advantages (both being newer maxxis treads) they're the same size as 2.5" High Rollers
Just Riding Along reckon Advantages are about the same speed, but advantages are grippier. The lack of contact tread between the middle and cornering edges would account for this?

High Rollers being discontinued?! Where did you hear this?
High Rollers must be their most popular tyre?
A mate runs an Ardent on the front of his Commencal meta 4 and he reckons it is a brilliant front tyre. When he tried it on the back he said it dragged a bit too much for XC but would be perfect for trail centre riding. It is marketed as a All Mountain tyre but seems a bit lightweight for that.

Care to elaborate?

One of the lads in our bike club were onto Maxxis about something and came back with this.
I have also been told conti verticals are being discontinued aswell, for those who like them.

The tyre is pretty lightweight dont have the figures to hand but weighing it in my hand I would say it cant be much more than 550grams with a very thin sidewall and not a great deal of rubber underneath the tread. I run Maxxis Ignitor 2.1 folding bead that weigh the same and they wouldnt be classed as anything other than a XC tyre.
I only do XC these days but when I did do riding with a bit more Grrr I would use something with a bit more meat in the tyre getting a flat half way down the side of the local quarry is so not fun
edit: just looked on the maxxis site and that gives a weight of 650grams which means I need my hands recalibrated. Still think its a bit flimsy for heavy duty action
I run a 2.4 on the front of my ss i have run it at trail centres and i think it is one of the best tyres i have used so far. i only use it at the front and with the 60a rubber and i love it works well in mud to.
i can really lean this tyre into corners ๐
10/10 for me
Great tyres imo. I have the 2.25's on the GT, front & rear, and took them out for their first spin yesterday.
Trails were a mix of hardpack / loose & dry / claggy / leaf litter.
Tyres were bang on & never missed a beat. Not at all sketchy on the shoulders. Far far better than the Fire XC Pro's I ran last year.
GTDave approved! ๐
